AFC Bournemouth v Aston Villa live: score, updates and line-ups

Full time at the Vitality: Bournemouth 3-0 Aston Villa. Adli's early strike set the hosts on their way, before Lewis Cook's angled finish and Álvaro Rodríguez's close-range effort turned a narrow lead into a comfortable win. Villa shaded possession and matched Bournemouth for shots, but couldn't find a way past Di Gregorio despite late changes bringing on Garnacho, McGinn and Abraham. A thoroughly convincing night for Bournemouth, who progress with goals to spare.

Deep into stoppage time at the Vitality and Villa have continued to push for a consolation without reward - Garnacho was denied by Di Gregorio and Alysson headed over as the away side edge the possession stakes. Bournemouth have still looked threatening on the break, Kluivert and Brooks both going close, but the 3-0 scoreline looks set to stand as this one draws to a close.

Bournemouth are running riot now - Álvaro Rodríguez turns in Tyler Adams' pass to make it 3-0 just after Lewis Cook's yellow card. Villa have responded with fresh legs in McGinn and Barkley, and Madjo forced another save from Di Gregorio moments later, but they're chasing a mountain at the Vitality.

Bournemouth have burst clear early in the second half - Lewis Cook curling home from a tight angle after Ben Gannon-Doak's corner was headed on, doubling the lead just minutes after Gannon-Doak himself had been denied by Bizot. Villa have thrown on Garnacho and Alysson in response and João Gomes forced a save from Di Gregorio moments later, but it's 2-0 to the home side.

Villa have kept probing before the break, with Buendía denied twice - one blocked, one wide - and Hemmings also having an effort blocked, but Bournemouth's defence has held firm. The home side have had their moments too, through Tavernier and Adli, both just off target, and Rodríguez caught offside twice as Bournemouth take their 1-0 lead into half-time.

Aston Villa have grown into this and now dominate the ball, with Hemmings, Buendía and Madjo all testing Di Gregorio's goal without finding a way through. Bournemouth still lead through Adli's early strike but have picked up two more bookings, with Gannon-Doak the latest to go into the book for a bad foul, as Villa push for an equaliser.

Bournemouth have made the brighter start and lead through Amine Adli's well-placed finish from Julio Soler's assist. Aston Villa responded with a Hemmings effort that drifted wide, but Buendía's early booking for a bad foul sums up a slightly ragged opening for the visitors.
