The big talking point this morning is Unai Emery's future, with conflicting reports flying around. TeamTalk claims the Villa boss is in 'advanced talks' as he weighs up a choice between Manchester United and staying at Villa Park (TeamTalk). However, TeamTalk also reports that Emery has now reached a decision on the Old Trafford job, with Aston Villa having put out a statement on the matter (TeamTalk). The Mirror says the club have sent a public message to Manchester United regarding Emery's future (Mirror). Adding another layer, the BBC's gossip column suggests Emery is actually in line to be handed a new contract at Villa, which would be very welcome news for supporters if confirmed (BBC Sport).
On the pitch, Villa's perfect start to this season's Champions League campaign came to an end in midweek as Raphinha's brace helped Barcelona to victory at the Nou Camp, in what the BBC describe as an enthralling European night (BBC Sport).
Elsewhere, a piece looking back at a former AC Milan player's time at Villa reveals he felt "honored" to turn out for the club and even wear the captain's armband, despite his spell in claret and blue being brief (Villa News).
Fans looking ahead to the colder months can also browse the club shop's new winter range, including Christmas pyjamas, a Champions League scarf and cosy midlayers and earwarmers (AVFC.co.uk) (AVFC.co.uk) (AVFC.co.uk) (AVFC.co.uk) (AVFC.co.uk) (AVFC.co.uk) (AVFC.co.uk).
